STOP SEABED MINING PETITION PRESENTATION

It is now confirmed that Regional Member and Governor for Oro, Honourable Gary Juffa, MP - Member for Namatanai Open, and Minister for Mining, Byron Chan, MP - the Managing Director for Mineral Resources Authority, and Secretary for Mining, will be present to receive the voice of over 24,000 people (in the form of signatures) from the Bismarck to the Solomon Seas, with a cover petition to be presented by representatives from 7 maritime provinces that are in Port Moresby for the event.
This is the result of a 14 month co-ordinated efforts of community based pressure groups, local advocacy groups, tertiary student groups including ACT NOW!
The petition calls on the PNG Government to stop this clearly unsustainable and unnecessary project, or alternatively, impose a moratorium on seabed mining for NOT LESS than 10 years, within which Papua New Guinea Government gets its house in order!!!
