Providing rural roads is a government responsibility

As Papua New Guinea (PNG) approaches the next National Election (2017) it is important for everyone to be reminded that it is the responsibility of the government to provide all the basic services we need. It is not the role of private companies to be providing classrooms, health clinics and roads.

Foreign owned mining companies operating in PNG are abusing our hospitality and trust by failing to pay any corporate tax.

Companies like Barrick Gold, Newcrest Mining and Harmony Gold make millions of dollars from their "World Class" gold, copper and silver mining in PNG.

Land has always been a priority for all Pacific island families. It is our identity and sustains our livlihood. Part of that importance is that our land is able to provide a nutritious diet for healthy living. If we want to  live long and healthy lives we need to reject imported foods with their high fat and sugar content and get back to eating what we can grow....

Today we are besieged. The so called elites in power who do the bidding of the pirates that control our resources are fast selling PNG off, neither protecting nor promoting PNG interests.

Just walk into any business and ask yourself how is PNG protected here? A few genuine businesses and investors struggle while a many are merely here as vultures to take what they can while they can.

In April next year Papua New Guinea will appear before the Human Rights Council at the United Nations in Geneva to explain its human rights record.
